HANDSPUN DYED YARNS
Every skein of Dappleberry yarn begins with a carefully chosen fleece sourced from local farms, where the quality of the wool and the care given to the sheep are just as important as the finished yarn itself. From washing and preparing the fleece to spinning, plying, and dyeing, every step is completed by hand in my studio, allowing the unique character of each fleece to shine through.
Unlike commercially produced yarn, handspun yarn carries the gentle variations that make it truly special. No two skeins are ever exactly alike, and every twist tells the story of the sheep, the landscape it came from, and the hands that transformed it into yarn. Those subtle differences are not imperfections—they are the hallmark of a genuinely handmade product.
My inspiration comes from the Australian countryside, hidden gardens, woodland walks, native birds, and nature's quiet treasures. Each colourway is thoughtfully created and individually named to capture a place, a season, or a moment in nature, making every skein part of the Dappleberry story.
Whether you're creating a cosy shawl, a timeless garment, or an heirloom to be treasured for generations, I hope every stitch brings you as much joy as I found in creating the yarn itself.
Thank you for supporting handmade, local farming, and the enduring beauty of natural wool, Regards Tammy
